Air freight: speed first
Air freight is usually best for urgent, high-value, seasonal or low-volume goods where delay costs more than transport. It is often the most expensive mode, but can protect launch dates and stock availability.
Ocean freight: planned volume
Ocean freight is usually the best option for larger planned shipments where cost control matters more than speed. LCL can work for smaller volumes, while FCL gives more control for full container loads.
Rail freight: balanced option
China-Europe rail freight can be useful when ocean freight is too slow and air freight is too costly. It can be especially relevant for planned shipments that still need a shorter lead time than sea freight.
How to choose
- Use air when timing is critical.
- Use ocean when volume and cost control are the priority.
- Use rail when you need a middle ground between speed and cost.
- Consider customs, delivery location, cargo type and warehouse deadlines before choosing.
